Define "sniff the G traffic"...
If you are using Netstumbler, you CAN'T sniff traffic, as Netstumbler isn't a sniffer.
If you are talking about Ethereal, Kismet, etc under *nix, then get a card supported by those programs. Read the documentation for the programs, decide which card that covers the usage you are interested in, and is supported by the programs you want to use, then purchase such a card.
I.E. Define the task, then purchase the tools that best solve that task.
To cut it out in cardboard: If you have a task such as driving a nail into the wall, you won't go out and buy a screwdriver, would you ? If you had any brains, you'd purchase a hammer..
Same thing applies here.. Define the task, read the information about how to solve that task, then purchase the correct tools within your budget, to solve the task according to the information you aquired.
