Is there a new release of the driver that does not need to be patched to get monitor and master mode working?
I'm basically trading my Atheros for a Hermes, is it really a good deal?

I also think it depends on what distro you use. Because when I dealt with gentoo it didn't have support for anything that wasn't added manually. Personally I am a fan of the Prism 2.5 chipset but to each his own.
