Hi,
I posted in hardware concerning an adapter to allow the use of a regular PCMCIA card in a CF Type 1 socket.
I ordered an adapter from the company specified (
www.accurite.com) and expect it within a week or so.
The card has an accessory 5vdc AC adapter in case the CF device only feeds 3.3v and the cards require 5v.
If you get a silver card for $50-$70 (or if you have a spare) and get the adapter for $65, that gives you a lot of flexibility.
Plus, the Enterasys website has WinCE drivers for the CSIBD-AA card (identical to Orinoco Silver), so drivers are less likely to be a crapshoot.
My cards do work in my Jornada690 (not palm-sized...like a mini-laptop with hinged screen...uses CE 2.x) with the Enterasys drivers, unfortunately MiniStumbler doesn't work on 2.x.
Concerning compatability between CF and PCMCIA, the pinouts correlate with the exception of one memory line on CF and the additional addressing available on 68-pin PCMCIA as opposed to 50-pin CF. As an I/O card, there should be absolutely no problem with the electrical connections.
I'll keep you posted!
