What you need is a flock of canada geese, ideally the dutch "returner" variety. You could strap an Ipaq to one, the GPS to another etc and, because they fly in close formation, string the cables and antenna between them. They could then fly accross a continent (of your choice, just get the wind patterns right) and return terrabytes of AP info back to you. All thay would ask for in return would be some pond weed or what ever it is they eat. At the altitude they fly you'd probably even get some in flight 747 AP's showing up.
But thats just an idea, if you want to fund my research into it send me a cheque/bankers draft (money at your own risk).
