I haven't noticed any significant hit with my battery, usually I am driving if I got anything on so the alternator takes all the drain, but it is pretty decent, hasn't burnt on me yet. I have a Y splitter for the inverter and for the GPS charger. Works fine... Hell I used to have a 3 y splitters all plugged in with handheld ham radios, frequency scanners, frequency meters, cell chargers and all worked out well.. of course it was a rental.. but I also carry an external jumper battery in case something does die on me... I would suggest for anyone to invest in an external battery jumper... mine can jumstart a large truck.. also makes it easier when someone asks you for a jump.

I wouldn't suggest sitting there parked and plugged int... that will drain your battery fast, especially if your laptop battery is dead... and check you battery every once in a while to make sure it isn't dry. (unless it is supposed to be)
