I have a WAP11 that I want to run as an Access Point Client, but I don't want to use a hub, is it possible to provide the Client network link using just a PC NIC?

I've tried it using a straight Cat5 cable, with no joy, would a 'NIC to NIC cable' provide what the WAP11 is after?

As you can tell, pretty new to this, so all advice greatly received.
