I don't know if you saw
it over there, but the new WRT54GS models have the same limitation as the new WRT54G models - they are based on VxWorks, and there is unlikely to be any 3rd Party flash upgrading for them. Also, keep in mind that flashing your router with 3rd party firmware may void your warranty. Caveat Emptor.
There are, of course,
other 3rd party firmwares out there -
OpenWRT is what several of us use, although DD-WRT might be friendlier if you're new.
