Just got an emergency call from a client. Haven't finished the write up yet. Will work on it more when I get back home.
Did get a bit of a scare when I booted everything up a while ago. I couldn't access WRT54GS #1. We had thunderstorms last night and I had not plugged its PS into the UPS (Stupid Me!). We did have some AC surges and a short outage. I couldn't even ping the WRT. I tried all of the normal reset stuff and was afraid that a power surge may have bricked it.
This is what I did that finally got me "back in touch" with the box.
Reset button for 30 seconds plus.
Wait 5 minutes.
Reset NIC card on control computer #1 to:
10 MB/sec
Half Duplex
192.168.1.2
255.255.255.0
192.168.1.1 (gateway)
(CAT-5 cable plugged from NIC card into LAN port of the WRT)
I was then able to ping the WRT again and access the DD-WRT 23 setup with the browser (Whew!) I didn't have to reload the firmware or anything like that.
If someone has a similar issue with a WRT54G or GS, I would recommend this procedure if all of the usual plug-unplug, reset stuff doesn't work after the first few times. It got me back up without having to open the thing up, short pins on the flash chip or any of the stuff that I was dreading.
Cheers
