Hi guys. I want to make an antenna to pick up wireless signals from inside my camping van. I have a Buffalo Turbo G WLI-CB-G54HP card with external MC-card jack and built in amplifier. I will clip the antenna on the roof or inside the van, not a permanent mount.

What do you think of this setup...

Pigtail: MC to N connector using 19 inches of LMR-100 cable
Cable: 8 feet of LMR-400 with N connectors
Antenna: 15 inch 9dBi rubber duck with N connector

Shoud I use N connectors or would TNC connectors be better?
The duck antenna is normally used for routers - would my amplified card use it well as an antenna?
This wouldn't be grounded I don't think... how much loss would I get by not having a metal base plate?

Any other tips?
