They fly pretty well if there is enough thermal or ridge lift. I've gone 50 miles in one, and I know people who have done 3x that. It flys a little like a barkalounger tied to a jellyfish. 10 to 25 mph airspeed. A flight at the same mountain may be 5 min., or 5 hrs. Depends on the weather.
When I get something like an I-Pac I may just try a hanging a Pringles or yagi antenna below my harness. However I am usually 1,000 to 5,000 feet above the ground and I am unsure how much RF there is radiating to vertical plane.
