Having wireless problems
I'm having problems with my wireless, and I really don't want to take my computer into my school's IT. If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it.
I just arrived on campus for the semester, and tried to use the wireless, however I wasn't picking it up, despite the fact that my roommate and suitemates are.
I've uninstalled and re-installed my wireless card, which is a LAN-Express IEEE 802.11 PCI Adapter.
It says it's installed after that, however I can't enable it.
Sometimes, it says my wireless card is enabled, which is usually signified by a blue light at the front of my laptop. This blue light isn't coming on at all now.
Sometimes, it detects my school's wireless network, but when I click connect, it just says it's connecting, and doesn't connect. This in turn makes my system idle process use a lot of my CPU, which creates a bit of a system lag.
I ran an HP online diagnostic (It's an HP notebook), and recieved this message:
"Test Failed. If you are running a personal firewall, please disregard this error. The LAN card hardware is working, however there might be a problem with the TCP/IP configuration. (LAN diagnostic (National Semiconductor Corp. DP83815 10/100 MacPhyter3v PCI Adapter))"
Also, the device properties have been saying "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"
If anyone can help me get this working I'd appreciate it. I was using wireless fine at home just a few days ago.
OS: Win XP SP2
