Chances are, the OP's Mac hasn't been properly registered with IT, therefore, they cannot connect.
Although, the Error 10 Device cannot start is either a hardware problem or a driver conflict, in either case, they should be contacting the boys from Mumbai for help.

I must be over suspicious for those S.E. types on here.. I completely overlooked that Error 10 code. Still it sounds like the kid is over his head in the shallow end.
