Really depends on what your house is made of. My house, which is a slightly modified double wide trailer, one linksys wrt pretty much covers the whole 1.5 acre lot. I added a second wrt to my garage to even out the coverage in there. The signal had to pass through two outside walls that are aluminum sided. Sounds like you may have a bum card. Have you tried a different card to see if that helps?
