Greg,
I'm using the Compaq WLAN Multiport W200 driver version 7.64.19.309, same as you. It's the one that came on the W200 installation CD.
NS was able to successfully detect other APs on my drive to school, a total of 10 others, including a TMobile AP in a neighborhood Starbucks. It was also able to detect 3 other WLANs on campus.
I took the W200 apart to check out the antenna jack you mentioned and low and behold, it was there. FYI, the W200 is just a regular Agere PCMCIA WLAN adaptor without the external casing. The PC card connectors are readily visible on the card's pcb. Now all I need to do is find somewhere that sells an antenna with the same plug type. Modifying the casing won't be an issue.
