It is unlikely that your file and printer sharing problems are related to wireless. More likely it is a network protocol configuration issue. Did you have it working on a wired segment or is wireless your first foray into networking? If it is, search on "Networking 101" for some resources.

The Linksys WAP11 Access Point is not a router, so you cannot do routing on it. The Linksys BEFW11SR4 is a combination AP/router, which does perform routing.

Finally, the antenna on the Microsoft Wireless Router is soldered directly to the PCB. There is no connector. If you're uncomfortable with soldering, modifying this would probably be beyond what you'd want to tackle. Also, modifying it would immediately void your warranty, as well as violate the FCC regs concerning the system certification.
