Getting started in Cincinnati
I'm going to try getting a stumbling rig up and running around the University of Cincinnati and Clifton residential area. I'm really new to the concept, and I've got a pretty packed schedule, so I don't know how much I'll be able to contribute to mapping, but I'm going to give it a shot when I get my shit together.
Couple of questions for you...
I have a Handspring Visor, and I know that they make an 802.11b module for it, but I've been unsuccessful at locating a MiniStumbler version for PalmOS. Is this still in the works, or am I just missing where to find it?
For a walkabout mobile rig, would I just be better off with a laptop instead of trying to find / port M'Stumbler to the Visor? I'm going for maximum concealability, rather than maximum range (on the logic that I can find an AP with a high power yagi, but Cincinnati cops would flip out if they saw me pointing it, but I can get in close enough to pull a signal if I'm low key and concealed.)
The Visor 802.11b firmware update for PalmOS 4.0 has updated a lot of shit that I understand would be necessary for stumbling AP's: DHCP, and auto recognition of AP signals (rather than the old version which required manual AP information entry).
Thanx in advance,
