I did a quick search and found this. Maybe they use 802.11 when they are back at the shop.

Baltimore Gas & Electric (BGE) Selects WebTech Wireless
GPS/GPRS Telematics System; GPS Fleet Tracking & Remote
Equipment Monitoring Services Provided
ORLANDO, FLORIDA-(CITA WIRELESS) WebTech Wireless Inc., a leading
Telematics Services Provider serving fleets, today announced that
Baltimore Gas & Electric (BGE), one of North America's oldest
utility companies has selected the WebTech Wireless Locator T3000
and Quadrant fleet services portal to manage its materials
distribution fleet with tracking and equipment monitoring
services.
Baltimore Gas and Electric's Materials Distribution Division has
installed WebTech Locator T3000's on its tractor-trailer rigs and
flatbed trucks that deliver materials to company construction
crews throughout its Central Maryland service territory. The
WebTech Locator T3000 and Quadrant fleet services portal enables
BGE's Material Distribution dispatch to pinpoint on a map where a
delivery truck is at any moment. The Quadrant fleet services
portal also provides an online Telematics command center to
monitor the operation of on-board vehicle cranes and report on
worker panic button alarms.
"Since installing the WebTech fleet tracking and equipment
monitoring services and RIMMS software from Descartes, the
Distribution division has realized a 14% cost savings," commented
Joseph Suehle, director of Materials Distribution for BGE. "We
decided to install the RIMMS software and WebTech's wireless fleet
services as together they provide a comprehensive fleet management
system that will help us keep our workers safe and keep us
competitive and efficient. The combined systems help us to do a
better job spotting inefficiencies."
"We are delighted to be serving BGE's wireless fleet management
requirements with our GPS/GPRS Telematics device and fleet
services portal." commented Cameron Fraser, Chief Technology
Officer, WebTech Wireless. "The wireless vehicle applications now
made possible by our end-to-end telematics system and new
always-on high speed GSM/GPRS networks is the missing link for
logistics and dispatch management. We anticipate this to be the
first of many Utility organizations requesting this real-time
wireless fleet monitoring capability."
