I followed previous replies on how to make this work. The key is to change the profile selection to "Use another program to configure my wireless settings". This releases hold of the wireless card so that netstumbler can access and change the settings on the card.

I got it to work on my laptop running Windows 2000 and Cisco Airo 340 Firmware 5.20.17 NDIS driver v8.1.7.31 ACU version 6.1
To make it work I just set the ACU to "Use another program to configure my wireless settings".
