If you are in OSX use Kismac and it will download maps from terraserver, or mapblast or us census info. You might need to adjust the maps a little, they are a bit off for me. I also scanned in the maps from my phone book and se them up in kismac as well. Pretty easy to do, import the map, and point to where you are and set it as current position, drive to the corner of a road and set it as point 1, drive somewhere else and set that corner up as pont 2. It can then tell you where everything is on the map, much more accurate and up to date than most anything you will get from Microsoft. They are still missing a highway up here! It's been here for about 10 years now....
