A suggestion for those who are stumbling with a laptop on the passenger seat: Consider putting something like these on it.

I ordered some of them a week or so ago and got them yesterday, and while they don't make as much difference for my grip as I expected them to, they make my laptop stay in place on the passenger seat quite well. They're OK for the grip as well, but a much harder rubber than I expected so they don't have much of a "sticky" grip on my fingers.

obDisclosure: I have absolutely nothing to do with the company mentioned here other than having purchased some of their product recently, and I'm not expecting to ever need to again since I got a several spare packages to see what the variety looked like. Some of those will got to friends, and one or two will stay with me for my next laptop.
