their original 802.11 card (white) is just that, 802.11, not 802.11b. The Bronze card is 802.11b but limited to less than 11mb. They were made at the same time as the silver and gold.

As soon as I get this thing working, I'll let you guys know if it does 11mb or not. I'm willing to wreck it in the name of discovery. I have ripped the PDAs from the bronze, silver, and gold but was unable to rip the PDA from the original white card. I didn't upgrade the FW every release in a row and jumped from a real low one to a real high one and it messed it up. I sent it to the guys in engineering and they tried the same thing on an exact same card and they had the same results. For me to fix it, I need to start over with the original FW and upgrade a version at a time. It's not worth it.
