I'd set it up connected to the WAN port and set up proper port forwarding. I've done it many times on Linksys boxs without any trouble, just have:

your-campus-ip:22 as ssh on one computer
your-campus-ip:23 as ssh on a second computer
your-campus-ip:24 as ssh on a third computer

Repeat as above until you have all your PCs served. It's all very self explanatory under the port forwarding tab.

The only problem I can think of is that I don't know how many ports the WRT54G will allow you to forward to.
