I need to get a wireless nic (suggestions) and all my ap does is connect "me" wirelessly to my router..? is the 54 acting just as a bridge/amplifier then?
And as all this kit is going to be static is a directional antenna on a rotator viable?

At least ive ordered the books guys....carnt say i aint trying.. yes im very trying..
I hate to knock the writing of myself and my co-authors (as well as Mr. Flickenger), but both books may be a bit advanced for you at this point. Both are written more towards an intermediate to advanced level, and may be too focused for someone just starting out. If so, don't despair. Jeff Duntemmann's WiFi Guide is written to cover the beginer to expert.

Don't mistunderstand; if you get through W:DDD and the Wireless Hacks book, then great! But if they assume that you know something and you're scratching your head, Jeff's book is more of a general guide to WiFi and should fill in the gaps. (Jeff also is on these forums as "Novilio".)
