I am unabashedly a WIFI newbie, that said....I picked up a Linksys router and card for my Dell laptop. The router is in a lower level room & the laptop is @ 60' away at the other end of the house on the next floor up (quad level). I get a very low signal at the far end, and moving it just another 10' away loses the signal completely. Admittedly I'm disappointed with the range so I tried the Linksys WRE54G (actually two of them, which Linksys Customer Support diagnosed as defective) but couldn't get them to work.

Moving the router isn't feasible given the layout of the house...

So, taking advantage of my newbie status, I'm looking for suggestions...
