Which iBook model? If it hasn't got USB 2.0, it'll be limited to 12MB of USB 1.1, and then you'll be stuck at the 802.11b speeds that Airport give you anyway. On onlder non-APE iBooks, the AP slot is 16-bit, so it'll never work well with a g or an a card. Stick with 802.11b unless you've got a G4 iBook with USB 2.0 or Airport Extreme. APE will give you 802.11g speeds, and with USB 2.0 you can get an 802.11a USB dongle.
