Baptist? Boy are THEY confused. Unless they're Jewish Baptists...
When I was your age, television was called books. And this is a special book. It was the book my father used to read to me when I was sick, and I used to read it to your father. And today, I'm gonna read it to you.

Some of my favorites

Postby Tedward » Tue Jul 01, 2003 3:06 pm

These are from the Research Triangle Park and Raleigh area of NC: (pardon my commentary!) Most of these had WEP off.

HoodNet - WLAN in da hood!
Romulus - Warp 5 Scotty!
JohnsAirPort - Hey! Is that John's Airport?
NCC1701 - another treker!
WAIR - Where is WAIR?
Typhoon - well, at least it's not Tsunami
DanParker5467239 - (phone number changed to protect the stupid!)
jailbait - huh?!
ZenHouse - Ommmmmm....
OurHouseLAN - Methodist church
cindihome - Hi! Is Cindi home?
BigAir - Wind bag!
Zena - Warrior Princess?
Osiris - Water Treatment plant, get it?!
IBM - yes, IBM! (no WEP)
CPQcorpNET - Compaq facility in RTP, no WEP
088562 - last 6 digits of the AP's MAC (I see this a lot!)
StoneHouse - yes, an actual stone house
BG103/A265-TrainRm-2 - HP facility at RTP, wonder which room?!
SAP WirelessNet - SAP Software at RTP
L0cKH33dN0rTh_cAroL1NA - Lockheed in NC

And finally; came across a manufactoring plant that had 5 APs, all named from Star Wars characters
:D

Ain't WarDriving fun?!?! :p

Sunday, while logging for WWWD, I went to most of the major business parks in North East Atlanta.

One sprawling building was the Panosonic Wireless Research Facilities. This building is huge. Being Sunday the place was vacant, so I had free roam of the parking around the building not expecting to find much.

What do you know.... a Linksys ap with default SSID and NO WEP.

Thought it might be just a lab router.

Somehow I don't think it was. Must be a rogue AP.

Corporate secrets anyone?

 Between you and the guy that programmed that SSID, one of you actually paid attention to his classics studies, and one watched too much Star Trek.

Want to guess which one is which?

I am willing to bet it's both of us :D !!

What world are you living in? Or are you a .edu'r?

Think about the majority of naming conventions used in WLANs. Do you really think someone actually was thinking of the Roman Romulus? If so, I'll bet you speak fluent Latin also, he-he!

As an IT person, and knowing a lot of IT people, most of them think in the world of sci-fi and not Roman legends.

I studied that crap in college also, learned enough to pass the test and that was it. I enjoyed Star Trek much more!

'Programmed' an SSID... I usually just type it in?:p
