CD/floppy based router?

Postby Giovanotti » Wed May 21, 2003 2:49 am

Hi,
I look for SW, that would turn old Toshiba Satellite 440 into router, where IP signal comes from wireless card (Compaq WL 110) and would travel further to wired network.
CD or floppy based, since hard drive in notebook is nearly dead.
I tried with Sputnik, but it works other way (wire to wireless).

you might want to play with smoothwall, coyoyte linux or some of the code from the Linux router project.

smoothwall is a firewall/router that boots off a CD. http://www.smoothwall.org

coyote linux is a router firewall that boots off a floppy, you may have to modify it to work with your wireless card by recompiling the kernel with the drivers for your wireless card on a linux box. http://www.coyotelinux.com/

and the linux router project is what most of these type projects are based on. http://www.linuxrouter.org/
