Intel Access Points Invisible to NetStumbler?

Postby Guest » Wed Sep 12, 2001 1:10 pm

It appears that the Intel 802.11(b) access points don't show up in NetStumbler scans. Anybody know why?

Probably running a "closed" network, and not beaconing the ESSID. See if there is a way to set the AP to accept connections from any, and enable it, and then test with NetStumbler again.

Yes, and then quickly change it back. There's another thread floating around talking about this. You can't find the access point using netstumbler, but someone could still find you and sniff your traffic with a packet sniffer.
