Interesting SSID (BBC_Internetx)

Postby utahlanman » Mon Nov 10, 2003 4:13 pm

Was cruising around South end of Salt Lake City valley this weekend and encountered multiple instances of this SSID.. Hits on Google produced no results:

BBC_Internet1
BBC_Internet2
BBC_Internet3

These were not localized, but were picked up in a dispersed area...

Possible WISP or "Sears" truck like affair?

I'm in California now (on business) and I can't believe how many Sears trucks I pick up just sitting in my office. The prevalence of their SSID is uncanny!

According to WiGLE, these have been reported several times before, right off I-15 near Salt Lake City.

I picked up these SSID's on the upper easy bench on the extreme south side of Salt Lake City -- all the way down to the I15 area.. in about a 7mile area.

Powerful signal too, much like a WISP might produce. No encryption though.

My location knowledge of salt lake city is limited (due to going as fast as humanly possible through that damn state) , but Is that not right where Novell is?

I seem to remember some really strong hits as we passed and that SSID looks familiar.
