The Acura DigitalMDX Setup
Most of you may have already seen this on other links, it's the Acura MDX with the modified indash navigation system to display NetStumbler along with other things like DVD movies, etc.
But... If you haven't seen it yet and are looking for ideas, have a look... http://home.attbi.com/~digitalmatrix/wardriving/ Keep on stumbling! -Jay |

Well, you did say out of curiosity... In reality, the most expensive part of course would be the metal and rubber that propels this setup down the road, but since most of us already have a vehicle we won't count that. Next we have the laptop with wireless card, again something that most have or have access to, so again not really any cost associated for this setup. Then we have the box that converts standard composit video into RGB video for the car's navigation system, that was around $100. Then you need some way of getting the laptop video into the RGB box for display, if your laptop already has video out then there is no cost, if you use something like the TVator that I'm using then we're talking somewhere around $140. NetStumbler is free so again another plus. So, worse case $240. The biggest "cost" is the time to modify the RGB box and install everything. Thanks, -Jay Last edited by DigitalMDX : 07-17-2002 at 05:17 PM. |
