Hey guy's I just ordered a omni 7db mag mount with 10 feet of cable!
Heres the problem. I just purchased a honda insight you know the car that gets 70+ mpg perfect for stumbling!! But the whole car body is aluminum so a magnet will not stick anywhere on it!! And i don't want to modify the body in any way, because corrosion could set in! So i'm thinking i can run a peice of metal across the top of the back glass with some double sided tape and try to get it to stick to it?? what are the chances of it working, ground plane ,problems ,etc...?? Any and all ideas welcome! I have a 14 db yagi i'm using now and I want to still use it. If i get another card and run them both( have a proxim orinoco now and plan on buying a senao dual input card), will XP, net stumbler using the v0024 script , and map point 2004. Will this setup be ok or will i have problems with double access points? and will the 2 wifi cards work in conjunction or will netstumbler only recognize one card? Or will i be oK? If you have a couple of dead hard drives laying around you could tear them apart for their magnets. Pretty sure they will stick to your omni through the roof. I wouldn't try sticking anything to the glass, might scratch.

Barry's onto a good idea with the magnets, but what would be best is some Neodymium Magnets, you can get them off Ebay and stuff cheap, they are basically the strongest magnets you can get, they'll grab your Magmount on the omni throught the aluminium no problem

I mentioned this idea to my friend before I posted and he wasnt sure of the magnet strenght and he mentioned i would'nt have any ground plane without the metal and it would weaken the antenna performance, Is he wrong?? That sounds like what i'm looking for if it will work, I wanted one for my wifi and one for a cb mag antenna, I don't have either but there on the way! Any ideas which ones off ebay I should get since you guys already have omni's one big one or several little ones??? BTW thanks for the quick responses and help!! Yep, aluminum would work fine as a ground plane. The magnet option is good, but make sure there's a layer of something soft between the magnet and your nice paint (congrats on buying an Insight by the way.) Another option would be to get a few good quality suction cups like the one they use on the sticky pod, they seem to work really well.
