My vehicle is a '99 Plymouth Breeze
iPAQ 3835 running Windows Mobile 2003 Compaq WL110 WLAN card PRO-Clip Dashmount Lucent Range Extender Antenna (hung upside down behind (or in front of???) rear view mirror) Pharos iGPS-360 Not Shown: 5GB Kingston Hard Drive for MP3's whilst stumbling, homemade Pringles Cantenna, and 4" diameter soup can with a 4" to 6" HVAC adapter that gives me ~3dB gain! The GPS is more for navigation than for gathering LAT/LON of APS (I use Deleo's Routis 2004), although I have collected, as of today, 2227 APs in the past 3 months (not a typo, it's two thousand, two hundred and twenty seven) since I set this up (before the Lucent antenna, I only had about 750). The area I have covered is most of Gloucester County (through developments and on major roads and highways), parts of Salem, Cumberland, Atlantic and Camden Counties (mostly while driving down major roads) in the beautiful state of New Jersey. I live near Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ and have picked up their engineering lab, RowanOpen (both spots using Cisco gear) and many others in dorm rooms, all while driving down 322 .This may not be as elaborate as some others I've seen (like the JC Whitney truck with the 12" touch screen), but I can stumble with my family (although my wife doesn't realize I'm doing it ), or my friends and even compare our finds when I pick up what they don't!Thank you for letting me show off my setup!!! |

Awesome, you live right around me! My home town in Voorhees (Camden County) and I got to school at Stockton College so I live in Galloway (Atlantic County). We should def see if there are more people from south jersey and try to get something together. Hit me up.

Showing your setup is just fine, hell it's encouraged.

. A little tuning and I'm sure you'll see similar results.Including the family can help you continue stumbling. I don't know how many people 'retire' due to complaints from upper managment

Renderman,
Thanks for the encouragement! Realize that I have not really gone out "just" to wardrive. These are on my route to work (police dispatcher) and going to customer's homes (small business owner, PC repair/Home networking type stuff), and just little trips to other parts of the state for various reasons. I'm sure if I took the time to drive through some nicer neighborhoods, and even into Philly, I could double my numbers, but I've just been too busy with work to take a nice 3-4 hour drive around South Jersey. Maybe I should hook up with Iceburn and see what we can find... By the way, what kind of tuning you talking about? Like a booster of some sort? Thanks guys! |
