1 card in the adapter (move the working card to the other slot).

You ofcourse have tried swapping the cards in the slots, to see if it is only one slot, or only one card that works ?

I'm not ignoring you, just installed Ubuntu 6.06 and am running updates. Yea, I tried swapping cards around. The new atheros based card I bought to test is the one that works all the time. I have the truemobile and one other broadcom based mini-pci card that I've been playing with. The broadcom card works, it's just useless for what I want to use it for. I was hoping to get the truemobile working so I would have an orinoco clone to play with.

Useless in what sense ? I use a broadcom bcm4306 miniPCI card with Kismet. Works fine, although not as sensitive as the Atheros. Actually both the Atheros and the BCM is better with kismet than the orinoco is, since they are faster to change channels. Same goes with a Prism54 chipset based card. Only reason to keep the Orinocco, is for NS and the few old WiFi linux tools that only support the Orinocco.

Well I've scrapped the dc power idea. I can't find a decent sized dc powered display that doesn't cost more than I've already spent on every thing else so far. I do have a power supply out of a shuttle style case that will work though. It's pretty small and quiet, so that should work okay.

I've found some sub $50 automotive ATX 12VDC power supplies.

The Iditarod is already finished for this year. he'd have to wait 11 months to get it.

It's not the power supply that's the problem. It's the display.

Last of the parts should be here tomorrow, or for Dutch, today. I do still need to acquire some antennas but that shouldn't be too much of a problem. I'll have to go survey a few schools, shouldn't take too long... Threw up a description and some photos.

Linky thingy.

Tried a different card. It was the orinoco clone being goofy, at least I hope so. The other three cards show up today.
