Ok, for some reason I thought you were graduating. I work at Penn State NROTC. Just added you via MSN.

Added you as well.

Either way, I'm going to rebuild my machine to only use kismet_server.

wish me luck- hopefully I can get a kill script working too.

Update:

I have kismet starting and stopping successfully on the machine via a script. I am rather excited. If anyone is interested in a .img file of the drive, I'd be more than happy to send one.

Too late. He was doing his warm-up laps and got too close to that crazy cajun.

Too many chocolate eggs must have slowed him down.

If you run a search for rm4100 on google, you will find the answers to who manufactures the board, and what its original function is.

Also, I was reading that someone wanted to use 14 USB wireless adapters. I am interested, how would I go about doing this? I know I'd need at least a powered usb hub.

I didn't even realize you could use more than 1 adapter without using kismet_drone.
Welcome to the motley crew.

As your project continues, you might want to post it on the Church of Wifi, this is the sort of stuff I love seeing up there.

Also, you can run multiple sources in Kismet, each source just needs a separate "source=" line. I've run 6 separate sources at once (cards and drones). Wait till newcore and you can really have some fun with multi sources.

If your looking for linux compatible USB adapters, Dragorn and Josh Wright were speaking very highly of some Belkin USB thing. the pauldotcom.com podcast from march 29th mentions the model. I'm too lazy and too sick to find it for you.

Any chance you'll be at Defcon?

Thanks. I'll look into that Belkin model.

As far as DEFCON goes, I'll need to see if I can get out there. I have yet to get my schedule for this summer.

Does NS do something, or did you have plans for me to speak about my project? Because if the case is the latter, I'll have to decline upfront. :P

So who wants to teach me to recompile the latest version of Kismet, because I cannot seem to get it to work on here.

Or better yet, anyone know how to install the pre-compiled version from http://packages.debian.org? The stable version is a 2004 release, which is what I'm currently using, and there is an unstable release of the 2007 version, which I'd like to give a shot to see if it makes any great differences on the project. Also, what do you guys think of running multiple wireless adapters? Is it worth it?

First year income here is pretty slim, so I have to try and manage funding accordingly. I can't buy as many toys as I used to be able to.

Incase you were wondering, its $100 a month, and I used to make closer to 350-400 a week in highschool, depending on how many jobs I was working at the time.

Hey, is it just me or did the Janus group just drop of the world? None of the links to their sites work anymore.

Hey Middie, what are the specs on the system you are trying to run kismet on as "get it to work on here." does not say a whole lot.

I can remember when I made E-4 and my take home check was $47 ever two weeks, after deductions. Living in the barracks and eating in the chow hall left me the whole amount for cigarattes and alcohol at the Petty Officer's Club. Ah - Naval Air Facility, China Lake, CA .. I remember it too well.
