L2TP VPN anybody?

i'm having the hardest time setting up an L2TP vpn. i've done it before and i remember it being a huge headache and now i'm trying to remember how. using win2k advanced server but i'd just as soon use something else. can somebody throw me a bone here? i'm sure that i'm not the only one who would like to know a simple way to do this, seeing as it's suggested as one of the lines of defense in securing a WLAN...

L2TP is a figment of ITs imagination.

i think L2TP is off in the ether. the only tutorial i could find on how to set it up was written by the blue fairy and you had to say the magic words to decrypt it. ;-) seriously though, i've given up the quest for L2TP and i'm gonna stick with IPSec and PPTP. i would still like any pointers that anybody has to offer...

If you are looking to use this for the home, you will be OK.

If you are a business, IPSec might not be your best choice for several reasons. Cheif amongst them is an ARP poisoning DOS attack.

so how is it that l2tp is immune to arp poisoning? i've been hearing that term a lot and i read up on it a bit but i'm still not clear on exactly how it works. also, does anybody here think it's reasonable to have 7 l2tp tunnels going through a home router?

If it's L2TP/PPTP over IPSec, it's not immune.

A true layer 2 encryption protocol acting independantly would be immune inherently since there is no ARP at that layer.
