G4 Ti 500mhz. External ant mod. Running kismac. Trying to get my Itronix 6250+ to run Fedora for kismet. I was running netstumbler on the Itronix when it had Win98 installed, but most of the networks around here have disabled ssid broadcasting. I relly want to get it running because it's much harder to break than my Ti. Just to test it out I held it up at eye level and gave it a little toss to the floor. It bounced, came to a stop on it's lid, didn't hurt it a bit. I got the "fast" one with a 133mhz Pentium!

Read through the "Stumbling Setups" section.

No the laptop works fine. You can drive a truck over the thing and not hurt it. Try installing linux to a laptop with no internal floppy or cdrom drives. I finally picked up a usb cdrom drive. Still working out the bugs.

I've got two actually....
Mine, which is the main one I use, is an IBM Thinkpad 600 with a Linksys WPC11 card. I use my wife's from time to time, which is a Dell Inspiron 2650.

[Duck and cover]
I got a Dell Inspiron 2650 1.6 ghz 512 ram, Dell Truemobile 1150, running Fedora core 1, (core 2 test 1 after the 2'nd of Feb) and Kismet. [/Duck and cover] Ok, ok, ok I admit it, I got a dual boot with xp pro running Netstumbler too. Don't hurt me too bad.

Dell Inspiron 8600
![]() Mine has a Pentium M 1.5 (not the P4M which blows compared to this one!), 512 of DDR 2700, 60 gb drive. I opted not to get the DVD burner because if I want DVD's burned I'll get syko to do them for me. While it is a Centrino with integrated wireless (for use at the house), I use a TrueMobile 1150 PCMCIA card for Stumbling and so forth. I use Windows XP Pro and use Knoppix STD .1 for work-related stuff. Biggest thing I like about this series is it's one of the few new laptops that still has a serial port, and the widescreen laptop is pimp with netstumbler or for dvd movies, two IE windows side by side, etc. Used to have a Compaq Presario 906, but the cd drive/burner crapped out and the hd pretty much crashed. If anyone is looking for a junk/parts laptop (14 inch Presario 900 series/Evo series-type screen in perfect condition) pm me.
