I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with an abnormally powered laptop for stumbling.

Acer Ferrari 4005WLMI, AMD Turion 64 2.0GHz, 1GB, 100GB, DVD+/-RW (dual layer), 15.4" WSXGA+ display, ATI X700 128 DDR, WLAN b/g, gigabit LAN, modem, 5-in-1 card reader, Bluetooth, XP Pro, carbon-fiber notebook

She stumbles, she plays Half-life 2... it's a crazy fast laptop.

Almost forgot.. my trusty Linksys PCMCIA 802.11b card... not the greatest, but it does the trick.

I guess if you only have one latop/notebook you may as well make the most of it.

I DO have a desktip, but it's P3 1.13Ghz. Used mainly as a workhorse. Fileshareing... downloading.. emailing and IM when guests need a computer. Should probably get a DVD burner for it so i don't burn out the one in the lappy.

This one might have a future here, as he seems to have a sense of humor.

Nice setup!

What brand/model DC/DC converter do you use? I was not happy setting up the DC/AC/DC rig, but at least the Belkin unit has enough muscle to not poop out a critical moment.

Woo.

Where did you get the DC/DC converter that connects to Dell's proprietary plug? I've been unable to locate one for my Latitude D600 and Inspiron 5100.

On the road, I've got one of the Targus Travel adapters, it's only good for 70W, so I'm having to make use of ACPI to throttle the processor down for it to work. With the processor at full speed, the adapter can't push enough current through to keep the machine running.

Dutch (over in the wigle stats forum Wigle.net setups group stats.) pointed out an adapter available in Europe which will provide the 90W power needed for this machine. I've got one on order (via my father who is going to the UK tomorrow), and will report back on how well it works.
