Is this the one you are referring to? I'm travelling through Schipol (Amsterdam airport) tomorrow and returning Friday. There's a large electronic goodies shop there in the Duty Free section. I'll check it out for price, availability, competitors, and possibly functionality and report back. Thanks for the info about a potential European solution.

I gave up on power adaptors. With the modular d-bay battery I just got, I have almost 8 hours of battery life. I can't drive that long.

That's exactly the one. Interesting that you're through AMS, my dad will be doing IAHAMS tomorrow (arriving Sunday), and thence on to the UK.

Real wardrivers don't drive in hours, just APs

I bet if you don't read that and start to follow those guidelines, you will soon.

Actually you do lose. You're out for least two weeks. The first is for not reading the Rules, the second is for being too stupid to take several hints.

DC/DC adapter

No joy here in Schipol on the DC/DC adapter. Only thing in the electronics shops are the Kennsington and Targus ones. They don't have connectors that will fit my proprietary Dell and IBM sockets. Might fit my Compaq, but it's out of action until I can figure out if the arbitrary halting problem is in the battery pack or the charging circuit.

Time's running out on the "Communications Centre" terminal, so gotta go.

When you live in farm lands, you get less APs than hours.

Lind sells them. http://www.lindelectronics.com/ however, shipping over seas might be expensive. There was an Ebay store selling a cheeper version of it, which did not include the communications chip, so it would not charge the battery, but it would power the laptop. International shipping was like $15 US.

If you contact Lind, you may be able to just buy a separate cable so you can use both laptops with one converter (Obviously not at the same time).

I personally use a Dell Latitude D810.
PM 1.7 GHZ
1024mb DDR RAM
40GB HD
CD based WarLinux 0.5 with kismet.

It's a "hand-me-down" from my boss. At first I thought a wide screen would be great but not so much now. Otherwise it's a great set up.
