My latest setup - Sony Vaio SRX w/ built in 802.11
I originally set out to buy an ipaq 3975 w/ PCMCIA expansion pack and got sidetracked by the small size of the Sony Vaio SRX with built in 802.11. You can read the full story here:

I also like the form factor of that Vaio.
I had an older model with the same 10.4" 1024x768 screen and loved it. Unfortunately, it was stolen and I took that as an opportunity to get a smaller machine. I went with the picturebook which is a great little machine but it isn't as usable as the "larger" vaio was. I'd really like to get a PCG-SRX7F it has 802.11b and bluetooth, but I'm also eyeing the Vaio U1. HcRUL |

nice setup.
my dad has one of these laptops, and it is very nice. I tried to get a peer to peer network running between his and my laptop, but was unsucsessful, so I just gave up there. I didn't think to look at what card it used, and I was unable to determine what sort of antenna this thing had, so I just gave up. note to self: potential place to leech an internet connection from ![]() |

I just got the srx87 (NO P) and it works like a charm with netstumbler. I will install xppro when i get back to school though, as licenses there are bought by my university and can be had for $10. heh.
But yeah, winxp home works fine, you can go with the aforementioned 'nintendo' model and be fine. and i love my new laptop. it's sooo small and portable and it'll be amazing when i get back to school. can't wait can't wait can't wait... heh. |
