Okay, I am curious how this is going to go myself.

But it seems a little humorous...

After all, we're talking about taking a 55 gallon drum, setting it all up nice and pretty...just to bring it down to something the size of an Orinoco external antenna connector.

There just seems to me that something is fundamentally wrong with that.

There's a forum in here about building some fairly efficient cantennas, but the diameter on this puppy seems to be just a little bit on the large side.

I guess I'm curious about the mathematics involved in deriving the design.

Well done agentgrn.

And I thought our spoof would go on for ages.

Thanks to the mods who knew about the spoof

Being a Ham Radio type of person.

Go to Ackers

http://www.ackers.org.uk/

then to the link to the chunks site,
turnpoint stick about 30" in the Can Diameter and press go..
It lasted a long time.

thanks to all for playing

all the best UNCLEX

It looks like a huge Dobsonian telescope, but I doubt anybody who is mad enough to grind a 30+ inch mirror would be so lazy to use an oil drum for the top section...

A quick google for oil drum dobsonian, and the truth is revealed. It looks like unclex did some sneaky photo editing on the last photo, but I'm not sure about the earlier ones.

As Thorn once said: "ph33r my g00gle skillz"
Or something to that effect.
