Other Windows-based stumbling software?
Are there any other Windows-based software that would be useful for the stumbler?
While I'm awaiting the arrival of my latest goodies (Orinoco Gold + NS Special), I've been researching what other software is available. I came across the interesting tools WEPCrack and AirSnort, but those are Linux-based tools. I've also come across Ethereal, a free network protocol analyzer, with Unix and Windows versions. On a related topic, is there a way to run Linux software under the Windows platform without having to install Linux? There seems to be SO many more toys that are Linux-only. Thanks in advance. |

not many programs are ported from *nix to Win32, but there are always exceptions. just depends on who feels like doing it really.
you cant really run linux stuff on windows unless you know what your doing and have a compiler or your running something like VMWARE (www.vmware.com) but that still requires a linux install. there are a few other odd solutions. for other windows tools. there is (not limited too): NAI Sniffer Pro 4.7 (www.networkassociates.com or www.nai.com i think). and AiroPeek NX (www.wildpackets.com) they're expensive, but nice sniffer programs for wireless. |

stumbling Software
NS and Other Tools running in a VMware window
will not work..As they require direct access to the hardware. Vmware simulates it's hardware and will not allow direct access to the "Real HW" it is running on. |

Orinoco USB Client
Does anyone know if the Orinoco USB client has the external antenna jack like the pc card version does? From what I have read, the usb version basically is a pc card with the necessary components for usb interface.
thanks |

Wepcrack works on Windows
Just for reference, although it's not a sniffer, Wepcrack does (supposedly) work in Windows. It was written in Perl, and with the right perl compiler you can make it work. It ran for me and it appears to work, but I haven't been able to get a compatible output from any windows sniffer. It appears to error because it isn't understanding the file format. I suspect that becuase of this, the fact that it works in Windows may be pointless.
