I'm using an Avaya Silver with a pigtail and some no-name omni magnet mount (I'm really unhappy with this antenna but it's better than nothing). I run a KDS laptop ($1200 from office depot) and a Garmin GPS ][+.
I bought the laptop because it had a serial port so I could escape carrying a dumbass usb->serial port thing. |

hmm... most stumblers haven't had too many problems with the mag mounts on them....
you may have a bum antenna...check to make sure your connections are tight also... you might want to check with Radio Shack to see if they have an SWR meter that goes up -> 2.4GHz - this will test out your antenna to see how well it is performing.... You might also want to check out www.aesham.com a ham radio site with a bunch of antennas and accessories...just an idea search the threads for more info on the antenna... |

Bad antenna?
Hello - If you are not happy with the antenna I would guess the antenna you got may have been a bad one. There was a whole run of these antennas that were tossed out by quality control. Contact me at sean@fab-corp.com and I will exchange it for you or refund you... we stand behind what is sold 100%

Dukes of Hazzard car wreck
I was at a stop light (stopped). Not war driving, but my antenna was in its usual on top location.
A Volvo whacked into me from behind at about 5 MPH I guess. The smack was enough to open up my sunroof about 2 inches. (Not the glass, but that fabric thing that you can slide back with your hand.) So I imagine the car was accelerated forward quite quickly for a fraction of a sec. My mag-mount antenna didn't budge a millimeter. If it can stand a quick jolt like that, I bet the thing would have over 100 MPH speed rating. And them Dukes could probably do all those jumps and stuff, too.

Likely story...
yea, yea...
You were probobly stumbling, staring at your lappy top and not noticed the light had turned green and got whacked! Seriously, I did run off a country road while stumbling and "rode the ditch" for about 50 feet. That'll wake you up fast. Need to intigrate the lappy screen in to a heads-up windshield display. whack
I'm in LA. They don't bump you when you delay for 50ms when the light turns green. They shoot you or tag your car.
Or they drive their Escalade/Range Rover/Navigator/Hummer over you.

Wind Test
Well ... I had my first "Incident" with my Fab-Corp antenna last night. I was out driving and my buddy was in the cockpit of his Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 when a Toyota Celica GT started riding a little close.
Forgetting about the nice little Mag Mount sitting on top of his car (Im sure the fact that the antenna was not pointing straight up added to the amount of pull on it) ... he punched it up to what he said was only about 95mph and all of a sudden .... *CLUNK* ... I thought the antenna had somehow broken off because I didnt hear anything. I checked the pigtail which was fully in-tact ... I then went to the coax ... I about freaked out when I saw the coax sticking out the window still but it seemed to have a lot of slack. I pulled it a little tighter and found that amazingly enough the antenna was still there. It had pulled off the car and on its way back to a merry grave on the highway, the Mag Mount kicked back in and it latched on to the car about 3 feet back from its original position. We checked everything out ... No damage to the hardware and only a smudge or 2 on the car. Although I don't think we'll be testing that again, I know the Mag Mount should hold up to at least 95mph even if it is pointed a little off from straight up and even then you still might get lucky. Another show of a good product.

I also have not had a problem with the mag-mount. Sometimes the driver gets pretty crazy, and forgets where to turn and ends up making 90 degree turns... <at least it feels like it> and never have I seen the antenna slide 1 mm. Meanwhile inside I have knocked heads even with the seatbelt on during these escapades, I wish I had a magmount for my head.
