It was for a news item about unsecured wireless accesspoints.
We used the car of a friend of me (Peezee)
The 15" monitor was connected to a P3 733 mhz running winslowsXP
There was also a network connection to a Soekris Net4801 running kismet.

The wireless cards are connected to a Diamond MG-200 antenna
(one with a magmount and one with a doormount)

Too bad you can't keep the screen like that ... that would make for some interesting daily driving!

Nice setup. One suggestion, if you haven't done it already, would be to disconnect the passenger-side airbag. Otherwise, that monitor will be launched into someone's face in a collision.

Dont think that the screen is a problem for the airbag.

Your choice, but unless you've seen how an airbag deploys when it goes off, you might not be so positive. The bags expands laterally as well as rearwards, and will likely rip that screen off the dash and launch it toward the driver and passenger.

Let's put it this way: I won't ride as the front seat passenger in a vehicle equipped like your's, unless I know the airbag had been disconnected. I value having my head connected to my body. But I'm funny that way .

At least the rescue crew won't have to pull the mouse out in BenWa Ball fashion.

Ah yes, the passenger airbag deployment. The airbag came this close <points one inch away from nose> to walloping me in the face, and boy that was big, too.

Take some time and figure it out.

An airbag inflates in less than 14 milliseconds.

They expand to HOW many feet in girth?

Figure out the velocity required to fully expand that envelope in the time allotted.

They don't call it 'explosive deployment' for nothing.

BTW - There is a plant that builds the azide cartridges in Moses Lake, Washington. Got a chance to see a demo of the fire suppression system that they use. Compartmented production areas, plus IR sensors that can trigger the suppression system in less than 5 milliseconds.
