Drilling not needed for roof mount

I've got a 3db omni sitting on top of my truck, with no drilling. It's mounted via a chopped-up magmount CB antenna from RatShack. The whole assembly is bolted together, then electrical tape is used to provide a weatherseal. I ran the cable out one of the doors; the weatherstripping is actually keeping the rain out, and I can pull it off the roof in seconds.
It works beautifully at 85mph (CB antenna wind tested to 75, but the omni is rated to >110 and has less wind resistance; I'm guessing that it'll hold up to ~100mph, but have no plans to test it...)

Complete Setup Configuration Needed

Does anyone have a complete drawing with parts list for a wireless sniffing solution to be used in a vehicle for checking interference.

Yes, its still there...

I just moved about 20 domains to a new service provider and you probably hit it during the dns propagation.

Pat...you need...

...to get a RangeLan 7400 card. It is a FH card but the snooper software acts like a spectrum analyzer for the 2.4ISM band.

It'll pick up ANY 2.4 freq.

Tron of Borg...

your van is really cool, do you ever get hassled by cops when they see all that stuff in it?

do you think a 4" pvc yagi painted od green with fake lift up sights on it ala a LAW being pointed at a government facility right out in the parking lot where everbody can see would help you meet new and 'interesting' people?

could you use a dhcp lease from a wireless net to download some kiddie p0rn onto a corp site then blackmail them for cash to tell them where it is on their sever.

you might have to burn a few companies by narcing them out to show a pattern before the blackmail thingie would be effective...

how did you get spaces in your user name? i can't seem to do that myself...

Thanks for the comment on the van. I don't do things that get me caught. I'm quick to move on if I don't think things are right. I guess, I just don't linger.

As far as getting hassled by the cops...I guess they could hassel me since I don't have my cage in yet. Also, the 40 cal. pistol in the dash and the .22 rifle in the back might raise an eye. However, these are not a problem since I have a Weapons Permit on me all the time for the Colt 380 that is in my pocket. ;P Just know the law. Do what they say, don't argue. I personally haven't had any problem in the past with my guns though. Haven't been caught doing the stumbling stuff though.

Ya, I think the olive-drap green rocket on the top would be a little overkill. However, find me a law that says I can't have a replica up there! LMAO Maybe a little dry-ice coming out the bottom would be a nice effect.

As for the kiddie porn, I guess I could, but I wouldn't know where to pick some up. Also, I'd lose all crediability by doing that crap (blackmail). Fun to talk about, not fun to do. 8)

For the spaces in my name...I normally use the biggest key on the keyboard. Seriously...I use the spacebar. I don't have any problems!

____^**^---copy/pasted and used the spacebar.

Tron of Borg:

thanks for prompt response, here on the left coast it is still pretty hard to get a ccw unless you are a] rich, b] a sport or media celebrity, and c] contribute money to the sheriff's election kitty. it is even better to be all 3!

what loads do you carry in the .380? some people feel with such a small caliber, hardball is best for headshots, but the cops tend to frown on that in self-defense since it shows you really want the thug dead, not just disabled. i like pmc starfires in my glock 17 and still have some black talons left from before the media got all worked up about them.

[if you want black talons, just buy winchester supreme sxt's they are basically the same thing only not plated black... =;-]

do you use the stock van alternator for charging both batteries? any problems with current draw?

i have seen people mount 2 80-amp units on factory brackets that come with certain models of the same engine in different cars, since once you get much over 100 amps in a single alternator the price gets pretty steep. i am not sure how the 2 alternators with built-in regulators co-operate with each other on the same charging circuit...

i am thinking of getting a laptop w/orinoco card just for netstumbling, does the gps unit automatically feed the newly detected ap co-ordinates to ns or do you have to hit a key combo to make record the location in the logs?

the reason i asked about the spaces in your user name is that registration does not allow spaces in the user name...

Slapping forehead with the palm of me hand...

when i realised that you can use any name you want in the forums and it seems to have no connection with the user name registration rules...

so why do people have to register if they can use any name while posting, eh?

Alternators

I use Hydra-Shoks. Yes, the .380 is the smallest I would consider unless I needed something ultra small. As for the cops complaining about the head shots, who cares. You didn't pull your gun unless you feared for your life and if you have the presense of mind and time to try to wound the guy, I'd say you weren't in fear for your life. Of course, a head shot is less likely then a chest shot.
do you use the stock van alternator for charging both batteries? any problems with current draw?

As for the alternators, I use the stock unit. I did check to see that it still charges at a full load. Lights, wipers, inverter w/ system running, & A/C were all on when I did the measurement at the battery inside the van. It still showed it was charging so I guess the one alternator is enough!

You tell NS to look for the GPS and it records automatically.

Perhaps we need a new forum for people to post on what weaponry they take with them when they're out stumbling.

forum for people to post on what weaponry they take with them

Can I be the moderator?!

There is nothing better then getting pulled over with a lot of guns. Cops want to look you over, up and down, and give you the 3rd degree as to what you need them for, etc.

And all in all, they can't do a thing about it cause you're legal....LLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Here is one great story....prior to stumbling.
I was out late one night listening on the radio, killing time. Some cops were across the street and had been there for a while. Well, my 44oz Big Gulp was wanting out of me so I pissed back into the cup. I left the car to dump it and my door shut and my alarm turned on silently. When I poured the p!ss out, it foamed up nicely on the pavement. Anyway, when I opened up the car door, my alarm went off and the a cop came over in about 2 minutes. I declared my weapon and the rest came over.

One noticed the nice foaming area just a few feet away from my car and sniffed a few times. He then asked if I had been drinking. I said yes but that it was coke. It was all I could do to keep from LMFAO!!!

Most were cool about my new HK USP 40. One even complimented me on it. One was not happy but couldn't do crap! Must have been the one who sniffed my p!ss! LOLOLOL

In any case, they didn't want me 'listening to the raido on someone elses property' so I left. Didn't want to push my luck. I guess it was ok for them to waste the tax payer dollar taking on someone elses property.
