Phoenix War Driving
Hey Peg,
I have been war driving my many routes to and from work for a couple of weeks now here in Peoria. What part of the valley are you in? I would be interested in trading notes and doing some driving together. I am an avid weather chaser and it was always cost prohibitive to have a cellular modem to keep up on the thunderstorm radars while I am storm chasing. My goal is to have a large enough area mapped out, that when I am in the field taking pictures and measurements that I can temporarily use available bandwidth to get the latest weather info and have fun too! I feel like a stalker sometimes sitting on the street corner trying to get the strongest signal. I hope I dont get in a wreck watching the screen for that little green dot! Hahaha! The other night a friend an I used AIM to chat to each other in the front seat of the truck between our laptops! And had a blast laughing away! What is wrong with us? hehe! Just drop a line to my email if you want to get together..... NduhClouds aka Greg |

Cool...More Phx sniffers....
I'm in on the Phoenix run for some sniffing. Like NDuhClouds, I've had some fun doing some stumbling out and about. I work around 40th street and the 202 and have noticed there is a high concentration of OPEN networks. I don't have as formalized notes as NDuhClouds has, but once I get my GPS, I'll be more organized.
Like NDuhClouds mentioned, we've done some stumbling together and yes we are techno geeks, but it's a blast. I've got a truck that can hold 4 people and laptops. Lets get something planned! |

phx stumbling
I am in the phx area (44th st/mcdowell) and am interested in stumbling about the area. I have a laptop and cisco aironet card and am looking to pick up another card and an antenna for use in war driving. It would be cool if somebody in the area or somebody that has been doing this for a while would contact me. phizthegoat@yahoo.com

PHX WarDriving
Got the ORiNOCO Gold running with NS v0.3, tied my Garmin 195 in to the laptop with a serial cable, taped the Lucent Range Extender to my roof rack, and took a spin from around Tatum & Shea up towards Scottsdale Airpark. Got 18 in a 10 min. drive, 5 have WEP on. Haven't done downtown yet, but I bet it is packed.
Building two directional helix antennas with the goal of connecting from the top of Camelback to my house (~10km). Also will be great to hit APs from a (long) distance. Haven't yet done Pringle's cans yet though. Any others have some honey spots in the Valley? |

PHX Stumbling / War Driving
It would be great to get together for a "Club Ride" in PHX. Let me know who would like to get together for this - should be fun to map out PHX better for all concerned and learn tips & tricks. Let me know if your interested:

Tempe
I just got into this, and well, what fun. So far, found quite a few near downtown Tempe (where I live). I've also discovered quite a few public points in and around the ASU campus.
Would be very interested in meeting other stumblers in the phoenix area. Feel free to email me. Pat |
