Far North Scottsdale
Just getting started here in far north Scottsdale, just south of Cave creek. My own neighborhood is pretty dead, and I suspect I'd go farther if it wasn't 110 *&@(#*ing degrees outside.
No GPS yet. That's the next step. --73-- --Novilio |

damn, and i JUST moved from phoenix! i wasn't aware of netstumbling as a whole when i was there, i got my toshiba while still in phoenix, for about 5 days, then i moved to racine, wi. where i have yet to find any good points to map, i found a kind of "ghost" signature somewhere in a neighborhood, but when i locked onto where i THOUGHT it was coming from, it disappeared, doing this with trial and error, went down one side of the street, got a signal, went back down the otherside, nothing, back up the first way, got it, lost it, back and forth until i see the house i THINK its coming from, however i didn't mess with it to much, prolly looked odd seing my car with my face illuminated with a pocket pc going back and forth, then stopping in front of their house lol.
needless to say i was there about 2 mins stopped then i left, they prolly thought i was just lost lol. this is using the built in applet for the toshiba since mini stumbler doesn't like the (supposed) prism chipset it uses (even though their laptop counterparts run hermes, go figure that one out!) the information i got for it was random gibberish, however i got an IP etc. but the SSID seemed to be randomly generated numbers and letters, maybe 8 characters long, and i wasn't prepared to write it down and it doesn't log it so i lost it before i could look into it any more -=\ |

You have a higher percentage of WEP than I have found in my Phx area stumbles. Being in the SE Valley, it is possibly a more tech-aware area due to the industry. The Central and West sides are still pretty wide open.
The Encanto/Willo home areas in central Phx are fun to drive. Lots of homeowners, lots of AP's, little WEP. Keep up the good work and the good stats. |

Phoenix area stumbling
This has been tried before, but I'd love to get together with other Phoenix area stumblers to see what's out there.
If you're serious, send a message to pathighgate@hotmail.com |

Here is one. I have not seen any of the WarChalk marks that you are referring to. But I do have one of the Quick Reference cards in my wallet just so I will know what the hell marks actually mean.
I’ve found 182 AP so far. 57 with WEP on and 125 with WEP off. I guess this is standard for most cities but it sure surprised me. Check my profile for and AIM name if your interested. Any other “Cactus Patch” Stumblers out there? |

Public Hot Spots in Tempe?
Hey Valley of the Sun folks . . .
I driving around Tempe yesterday I noticed a couple publichotspot SSID's. Anyone know anything about this? It was on Southern Ave. Also, anyone plan to have a Valley drive for the World Wide Wardrive II that is coming up in October? |

World Wide Wardrive II? When?
Like he said, when is that?
I travel a lot, but if I know when it is I might be able to steer around it. If there's a link please post. Another thing I'd be interested in once the weather breaks is an antenna shootout at a park somewhere. I've got an interesting unit on the lathe right now and would like to know how it compares to some other designs, particularly parabolic reflectors. --73-- --Novilio |
