We should plan a happy hour somewhere soon?

Black Angus, Torrance has one every weekday till 7:00PM and all evening on Wed. None on weekends?

Just a thought...

Thumbs up So. Calif. WiFi Field Day Lets do it

Mike Outmesguine of SOCALWUG has been floating the idea of a WiFi field day for some time now (years!).

I think the time is ripe to do it.

After spending a day in the desert last Saturday (see my post on Saturday), I'm excited at the prospect.

I see this as a possible full weekend. Likely some place in the desert, Southern California Central valley, South of Pahrump or other. I'd like to find 2-3 locations where we would have line of sight 5-20 miles apart (or more). Likely mountain tops or slopes that have decent roads. Camping, or other lodging .

The goal would be to make successful temporary WiFi links between locations. Test antennas, run various applications, IM, video streaming etc. This would put to use the skills that we have learned at SOCALWUG, antenna aiming, Fresnel, link budgets etc.

The weather in May would be perfect for this.
