Ireland

I'll be in Ireland within the next month or so, and plan to do some stumbling while there.

Question - What resources are there for good maps of Dublin / Kildare counties? I have MS AutoRoute 2003, but there are virtually no road details once you get outside M50. Any help is much appreciated!

The best program I have seen for EU is called Route66

You can get the program/maps for a certain region (Very detailed)
or you can get the Europe 2003 Professional Ver. (Also very detailed).

Links:

Main Site: www.route66.nl

Europe 2003 Pro - http://www.66.com/route66/products.p...d=1&prodid=102
England 2003 - http://www.66.com/route66/products.p...d=1&prodid=133

After checking the site, the only version that covers IE is the
2003 Professional version...

Thanks, Madhatter - I'll look into that one too. AutoRoute seems pretty thin once you get outside major cities. I was able to find our office in Dresden, but not Puchheim. The streets fade out to nothing...

However, the Route66 web site shows this for coverage:

It seems there aren't many soft maps available for IE. If all else fails, I may have to buy a paper map through OSi.

Bartholomew makes nice folding maps. They are good for getting town to town. For city maps, I like the "Collins Handy Road Altas- Ireland" by Collins Roadcheck. It's paperback book size, and the city streets get down to a very fine detail, including directional arrows for one-way streets. It also has some nice info like commercail radio station freqs and airport and ferry information phone numbers. It was about £2 the last time I was there.

If you do find a soft map of IE, please post the info here. I'll need one soon.

Thanks, Thorn. I'll look into Bartholomew and Collins.

I will definitely post something if I can find a decent soft map.

The Route 66 UK Mapset does not include Ireland....

You will need the "Route 66 Europe 2003 Professional" version

Thanks for clearing that up. I'll give them a call, but here is the coverage map they show:

I still don't see Ireland on it.

I was referred to a pretty good online source for maps: www.maporama.com

It will show pretty good street-level maps that can be exported to PDA.

I'll have to try it out with GpsDrive

Re: Re: Ireland

Unfortunately, I don't think I can get away with just heading E-NE and eventually finding my way to Leixlip & Maynooth.

Besides - how am I supposed to find the public golf courses?
