Tokyo Japan
During a recent trip to Tokyo, I had an opportunity to run Stumbler a couple of times. As compared to Manhattan, the majority or at least about 50% are running with WEP enabled. Also most appear to be businesses, not individuals based on the SSID. It also appears that either some of the rail system or the transportation system uses 802.11. Lots of APs with very similar SSID and WEP at fairly regular intervals on the train from Narita to Tokyo. Anyone else with any experience in Japan?

Just to bump this up, Japan, more specifically Tokyo has a very active 2600 scene right now.
www.tokyo2600.com decent mix of people show up, half foreigners (gaijin) and the rest local Japanese. English is the predominant language spoken and everyone has laptops and wireless gear (PC Cards, pig tails, antennas etc) The meetings are in Akihabara where turning on netstumbler could very well crash your system from so many detected wireless access points ![]() Anyways just a heads up to anyone in Japan that Tokyo has a scene. |
