Kansas City Metro
Just wanting to see how many people there are out there in the KC area. I've found about 3 of us so far just talking on the boards. Would like to know if there are more.

I already pm'ed you, acidrayne, but I thought I would put myself down on this list as well. I'm down in Wichita for the duration of the sunner but will be in Lawrence starting this fall.

OP Driving
Did you hit anything interesting? I ran into one the other day that was MSFTWLAN. Still don't know what the business was. I average at least 20 without an external each time I go out in OP.

I was mainly out doing a coverage check on a new kcwireless node, but also found tons of APs. Here's the coverage I got on that node:
(scroll down) http://www.kcwireless.net/index.cgi?...WoodsonOutlook and the complete map of what I did: http://www.kcwireless.net/index.cgi?WarDriving I'm still working on the NS->map process. Something's confused about the coordinates, and everything's a bit northwest of where it really should be. -glenn |

Questions
On the map from your driving session, what Highway is that? Im assuming the hilited road is State line?
Do you have the ability to make a jpg off that map with a little bit closer detail? I would love to have it if you could get one for me. Thanks

It's 435.
I'm torn about how high quality I want to go with maps & stuff like that, but I'll do some higher-quality ones once I get the lat/long error stuff figured out. (everything's 50 feet northwest of where it should be). Maybe I'll do higher-quality without the ESSIDs or something. -glenn |

KCWireless Node
Just FYI for Glenn ... I drove by your house again Saturday this time with my antenna ... When I was on the street behind you I was picking up your AP ok but when I was sitting right in front of your house I still couldn't get a strong enough signal to do much with. I actually thought about pulling into your driveway but I thought that would be a little gauche.
If you ever see a white Mitsubishi 3000GT pull into your driveway with an antenna on top though you will know who it is. Happy Stumbling to all

Heh. I have the 5dBi antenna near a window on the northeast side of the house, so the coverage you saw makes sense. I'll have an externally-mounted omni in the next month or so, and coverage should be much more interesting then.
I just made a couple of antennas, one a directional cantenna and the other an omni, and will be testing them next weekend. Join kcwireless-talk on www.kcwireless.net if you're interested in details on how that all goes, or want to come out for the testing. -glenn |

We're going to be building antennas and testing 'em next Sunday afternoon. Check out http://www.kcwireless.net/ for more info.

I saw that on the mailing list message that you sent out ... I work Sun-Thurs from 8a-5p so I don't know that I will be able to make it. I will try if I can because I would like to get a cantenna made up.
